Did anybody else try out the seedbed rolls advertised and featured in KG this spring? I did, and failed -- because of a spring drought. I couldn't be with my veggies as often as I would like, and the rolls really do need to be kept watered. Should I try again? They're rather expensive -- but they could revolutionise my gardening. I would like to hear other readers' experiences.

I've only ever tried a seedbed roll once - that was for carrots because I really hate thinning them. They weren't a huge success but I suspect that was mainly because I 'sowed' it too early in the year. I can see that it would make growing some vegetables a little easier from a thinning point of view but the varieties in which they are available are probably quite limited.

To my knowledge this is the third time, over the years, that this form of seeding has been introduced and has never caught on. It sounds so simple so why do people ultimately choose another method?
There used to be a person on this forum who used to make their own tapes and swore by them. It is a long time back and I'm afraid that I cannot remember who it was.
