This isn't a question, just so happy to report that I have just picked the first ripe tomatoe I could see from my bedroom window (growing on sunny ledge outside) and found 5 to pick!!

It is amazing the joy and acheivement a few small plants can give :D

p.s. on the all important husband taste test they were pronounced 'lovely'
Kind regards,

Elle

Dear Elle's Garden, it's a lovely feeling picking and eating the first of something.
And if you are the same as me, you will still get the same enjoyment after many years of growing.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

I think with tomatoes you always get a warm feeling tasting your own, there one thing you really can't replicate in the shops. After two years without tomatoes-stolen by blight, this year we've already picked lot's.The blight is creeping along and we've had to pull up some plants but the kitchen windowsill is still a beautiful sight of reds and yellow Yum :)

Yes, picking and eating that first sun ripened tomato is one of the joys of gardening. It is one vegetable I would feel very frustrated if I couldn't grow as quite apart from the flavour, it seems to provide one of the better yields per plant than many other vegetables.
