Does anyone have any experience of a plotholder "pranging"another plotholders car onsite?Can the comittee get involved?is it classed as private property?

The committee can set rules about use of the site and enforce them, that would include vehicular access, speed limits, parking arrangements/restrictions, use of mobile disco / sports commentary / news service.
As far as the cars concerned, the owners insurance will probably treat it as they would a supermarket car park.

I'm afraid cars are only insured on the public highway so wouldn't be covered on the allotment.

I thought someone would say that Plumpudding,I'm not enquiring for me it's just a lovely chap on the lottie was hit by a guy who reverses at great speed on a regular basis,there are 5mph notices but like so many rules on site they rely on the goodwill and cooperation of the plot holders,sadly some show neither

Sorry, but that is not correct, your interpretation means that your car is not insured on your drive, or, in any car park. Get an insurance agency's advice, as the breadth and amount of cover will be different, but some things will be covered anywhere in the UK.

That is what I was told Peter, so could quite well be wrong. I was under the impression that it was classed as knock for knock in an accident with another vehicle in a car park or on private land.

Our site is council managed and we have a 5mph speed limit which is regularly abused as are other rules by one or two plot holders. Unfortunately in spite of complaints the council chooses to ignore any flouting of rules and it is only a matter of time before someone on our site suffers the same fate as on Macmac's site.

Children play on site and there is a concern for their safety too.

If the council do not uphold their rules then would they be liable in the event of an accident.
