Hi everyone, eventhough I`ve been a reader of the magazine for some time this is my first venture onto the website....I may aswell make use of it!! Has anyone heard of, or grown, the potato variety "Drayton". It was bred by PBI Cambridge Ltd and is a mix of Red King Edward x Maris Piper. During a conversation at work, my colleague who is some thirty five years older than me, recalled that he grew this variety in years gone by but could no longer get a hold of it. From his description it sounded like a very versatile, tasty potato with a pleasant two tone skin. From searches online I could find the breeder etc but cannot find a supplier. Does anybody know where I could get them from or anything else of interest about them? Thanks. Don.

Morning bigdon65, welcome to the forum.

Regarding the Drayton potato, it's not a name that springs to mind, but sometimes they change the name of seed to give them a new relaunch, it might be worth having a look down those lines.

According to Alan Romans Drayton has disappeared. If Alan doesn't know, who does?

Thank you oldherbaceous and alan. Its good to know you guys are out there for a bit of advice! By the sounds of it, if your right alan, the drayton has died a death. Do you think it could be possible though, that it was relaunched as somthing else?
