60 Years young!!!

Hi all,

Just thought I would let you know that I have joined the super sixties club as of today :)

Off to the RSPB reserve at Dungeness shortly for a wander around. Hope the rain holds off while I'm there.

After a phone call yesterday, it looks as though I will shortly be offered a small allotment plot in a neighbouring parish, so that will enable me to grow all the stuff I haven't room for in the garden :D

Congratulations! Now you will get a Winter Fuel allowance, a free bus pass on appliction, reduced price hair cuts on certain days at some barbers, reduced price admissions for Seniors at various events, and reduced subscriptions for the National Trust if you belong. Growing older isn't all bad.
Congratulations on your new allotment too. Bet you can't wait to get growing. I reckon gardening is a much more enjoyable way to keep fit than mindlessly pounding the treadmill in the gym.

I wonder if PJ got a pair of those Tartan slippers, that seem to mark the coming of sixty. :)

Thank you all for the messages :D

OH, I haven't had the tartan slippers yet. There is a present on it's way from my son in Uganda, although I don't think the local's make them in a tartan finish

With the allotment situation, I used to have a plot here when I lived here in the early 80's. When I moved back about 18 months ago, I was shocked to see that the site was only a fraction of the size to what it had been. I got on the waiting list, but there was virtually no chance of me ever getting to the top of the list. I contacted the parish council of the next town along, but they were adamant that I would have to live in their area to get one, even if they had one available. However, recently they have decided to relax this rule, and are offering a 5 perch site to out of parish residents. Hopefully this will all be tied up in the next few weeks. There is a very active association at the site, and a lot of money has been spent on security fencing and suchlike. Apparently the plots they have in mind are overgrown ( surprise, surprise  ), but for a donation to the association, they will clear it and rotovate it to get you started. So, fingers crossed, it will be all systems go before too long.

Felictations to PJ joining the club and thanks to Primrose - I hadn't spotted the NT discount and think they were about to take my DD at full price even though we are both over 60, awaiting response to email.
Hope site clearance isn't as per Joe Swift last year.
