Hi OH,

and what a glorious morning it is again. A little bit of sea mist around earlier, but it looks like another scorcher :)

We're promised some rain and cooler weather here at the world's end.
Bet you'd like some of that too

Yesterday all I did was a bit of weeding and some redcurrant picking. As I sat picking reds my eyes were stinging as perspiration (I'm told ladies don't sweat) was running off my fringe and into my eyes. No breeze at all just sticky. Later on we had some spots of rain but nothing to even fill a thimble!!

Dear Glallotments

Indeed not :!: You don't even perspire.

Horses sweat, men perspire, but ladies merely glow

Hi everybody :) gosh it's so hot and humid here I've had to retreat indoors and wring myself out and am now sat in the shade with an electric fan wafting (though the sound of that gnarling humming is beginning to jangle my nerves). 8) Am I cool as in chilled out of the heat or cool as in hip :? hmmm... well reading the following, probably just barking....(mad dogs and english women...etc..)

Once upon a time, there was a cat who died. When she got to heaven, God asked her how she liked being on earth. She told the Lord that it was awful, she had to sleep in cold back alleys where there was no food and life was hard. God told her that he was sorry it had had turned out that way but here, in heaven, she would be happy and He would give her the most comfortable, warm pillow to sleep on. The cat laid down upon the pillow and was happy.
A few days later, about a dozen mice that came to heaven together and God asked them how they had liked earth. Earth was no better for them than it was the cat.

They explained to God that it was tough and exhausting and their feet were worn out from always running from cats and dogs and people. God felt bad for the mice and decided to give them rollerskates.

One day God sees the cat again and asked her how she was liking heaven. She explained that it was absolutely wonderful. The pillow he gave her was the most comfortable place that she had ever slept on, but even better than the pillow were the meals on wheels.

Some race horses staying in a stable. One of them starts to boast about his track record. "In the last 15 races, I've won 8 of them!"
Another horse breaks in, "Well in the last 27 races, I've won 19!!"
"Oh that's good, but in the last 36 races, I've won 28!", says another, flicking his tail.
At this point, they notice that a greyhound dog has been sitting there listening. "I don't mean to boast," says the greyhound, "but in my last 90 races, I've won 88 of them!"
The horses are clearly amazed. "Wow!" says one, after a hushed silence. "A talking dog."

:D hope that brought a little chuckle for the first day of July and that all is well in your veggie havens!

Hi Elaine
Glad you found them funny!
Yes - Laughter goes a long way and we all know how much of a sense of humour we need at times when in the garden!
That includes realising that my dogs have just discovered how tasty flowers are and also that they have taken to eating even more of the veg than last year!
Keep catching them red handed - well with greens stuffed in their mouths :D little darlings!
Last year thought I had mice eating my courgettes, until I was examining the end result of another munching only to turn sideways and there was Jed (very large collie cross) nonchalantly chomping pieces of courgette a mouthfull at a time :o then he had the audacity to smile at me when I said "that's NO!" and other choice words.
This year I caught him eating the tops off my french beans whereas last year I blamed the birds hmmmm.
Even the other two have developed a taste for greenery as well.
Better look in the drawer for more sense of humour...........that's better ha ha
