A couple of years ago we started giving our butcher bits and pieces from our allotment,strawberries ,tomatoes, potatoes e.t.c..usually some of the first crops. last year we gave him a tomato plant.Today he showed me a pic on his mobile...his own little veg patch I feel like, is it an evangelist ?without the god bit Has anybody else "converted"someone? The only trouble with these converts is when they grow their own you can't give them your surplus anymore

I've converted quite a few folk into growing Rats Tail Radish. Most folk had never heard of it before but now they are proudly telling me all about how well their plants are doing.

I don't have a problem with surpluss as there is always someone who will help you out wether you ask or not. I have had onions go missing this last week. cheers now.

On one of my return visits to Addenbrooke's with rhubarb and radishes for the radiographers, I offered tomato plants to one of them and she ended up with 4. I mean to find out how well she's done with them, but I think a packet of radish seeds for one or two of them will whet their appetite.

I've given various plants to my next door neighbour but she's killed them all off as she's not really a gardener. The only thing that thrives, unfortunately, is her damned ivy, which is growing through our fence at a continual rate of knots!

I've given other veggie seedlings away to enthusiasts and it's always nice to get a report back on how they're doing.

Hi Lez. That really makes me cross. Last year, some kind soul relieved me of my runner beans....every single viable bean was stripped from the plants. They must have had bagfulls as there were 20 poles and were heavily laden with beans. The annoying thing about theft of produce is, if they had asked, I would gladly have given them a generous bagful.
At least with runners, they keep on producing, unlike onions. I hope you don't get any more taken. Cheers.
