New baby

Just thought I would let your all know that last year we had a really bad year with my BIL losing his battle against cancer after 18 months. That was the 14th June 2008. This year my nephew, his son and his wife have just produced a beautiful baby boy born on the 14th June 2009 and called after his grandpa. We are really thrilled and hopefully it will help my sister come to terms with what has happened as I know she has really struggled through the last year.

I have always been a terrible worrier and if I dont have something to worry about then I will find something. I have decided recently that I ought to give myself a shake and appreciate what I have and stop worrying. Here's hoping I manage it. This is my half year resolution. :)

So sorry for your loss Catherine but splendid news of the new little life!We lost my beloved big sis two years ago ,rapidly-6weeks to a brain tumour.I thought of her yesterday as i picked strawberries, they were my last gift to her when she could eat very little.I know what you mean about worrying but try and relax a bit do things your Bill would have liked and I bet you'll feel him right there with you.
love MacMac

Thank you MacMac. Sorry to hear about your sister, little things bring back lots of memories. I often think about him. He lived in Zambia so we did not see him as much as I would have liked. He always called me Catrina never Catherine. He also gave me away at my wedding in 1994 because both my parents died. He was a fabulous person that did not deserve to die in the way he did. It is lovely that we now have a baby boy to carry on the family name.

Dear Catherine, what wonderful news, it just doesn't get a lot better than that.

I have also had some pretty bad times in my life. But for all the bad ones there are as many good ones, and they are the ones to try and focus on however tough things get, but i do know it's not easy at times.

And may i just say, i think you are very brave admitting about your worrying, and even braver trying to do something about it , so good luck Catherine.

Thank you OH you always have known exactly the right things to say and your words are very comforting. :) I have not been on the web site regularly for some time due to other commitments I will really have to mend my ways and make more of an effort as I have really missed it.

Catherine,
I'm a born worrier as well and I know how it can disrupt and colour your life. With the birth of my own children I have vowed now to bog myself and them down with worry. We all do the best we can, but bad things will happen. It's the strength to deal with these troubles that make us stronger.

Good luck with your resolution and if ever you feel yourself wavering, give your new nephew a cuddle.

Hi Catherine

What wonderful news for you and your family following so much deeply felt grief.
So many times when we feel there is no light to be seen at the end of the tunnel - there it suddenly appears in all its glory!
Enjoy loving your new nephew :)
Sometimes just by recognising that we do something - like worrying - that's when we have already started to change the habit - good luck with beginning to have a new perspective on life .

Thank you all again for your kind comments. Unfortunatley the new baby does not live in this country my sister and family live in Zambia. So except for photos I will not get to meet the new addition. But they will send me loads of pictures.

Dear Catherine. Have your family in Zambia got a PC with a Web Cam? We keep in touch with my stepson and his family this way. It's lovely to be able to see them and talk to them and it's FREE!! Cheers.

Hi Elaine, My nephew does have a computer and they also have skype but it is a really bad connection, when I have tried to speak to them it sounds like they are talking through a tube with water being poured down it so we have never bothered with it. Thank you for the thought though.

Dear Catherine, we don't use Skype. We signed up with MSN and we have no problems with USA. However, I agree, Zambia is a different kettle of fish! worth a try though? Cheers.
