I'm not short o vegetables to eat right now but have some lovely fresh green tops to the kohl rabi, seems a shame to waste it. Does anyone eat these and if so do I treat them just like young cabbage?

Beryl.

Yes! Options include steamed, stir-fried, or shredded in coleslaw (I also grate the base in coleslaw).

Have just picked my first kohl rabi today, and as you say, Beryl, the leaves are too good to waste so will be using them in a stir fry. I think the bulbs are such an under-rated vegetable, probably because few supermarkets ever sell them so the only way to try them is if you grow them yourself.

Hi Primrose,

Yes I had some this evening just wilted in the pan - delicious.
They have always gone on the compost heap before - not any more.

By the way, if all else fails and you happen to have some herbivorous pets, see if they like them.

Our Guinea pig is very partial to Kohl Rabi leaves!
