Maybe they will fill out with a good watering? I mean a really good drenching of the soil beyond the firast few inches?

Hi Boxer

I think the answer is simple: they're not ready yet. Patience

Being a Hungry caterpillar I can't wait for large beans to develop so I pick the pods when they are still tender, chop them up and eat bean and pod. Very tastey.

What has gone wrong with my broad beans the foliage have all gone black/brown with very few beans?, the few that grew are very short pods with only about 2 beans in each.
