Yellow leaves on broad beans

The broad beans which I planted about four weeks ago, are growing quite sturdily and just starting to flower, but they are getting lots of yellow leaves compared to the earlier ones, from the bottom upwards, in fact all the plants look distinctly yellow.
Could it be the cold winds recently or lack of water (we have not had any appreciable rain for weeks now)? The variety (Witkiem Manita) is the same as the earlier ones.
I have given them a good watering today but, presumably, yellow leaves will never turn green again, will they?
