Hi everyone,

I have just joined the board and I am amazed by the amount of users and info swapping hands. Just wanted to say hello. My fella and I have taken over a 67' x 33' allotment at the beginning of the year that had been abandoned for about 10yrs. It is on quite a slope so we have terraced it, installed a polytunnel (8' x 15') and started work on a chicken run and shed. I have got spuds and onions in as well as some soft fruit and we are working on beds for brassicas etc.

:D

Hi TM1. What part of the country do you live in? Often when comparing notes, we have to remember that what suits one forum member may be impossible for another. For example, today I've been planting out some sweet potatoes, but I dare say you wouldn't be advised to if you lived in the Highlands or whatever.

I've learned on the hoof, and from the Dr Hessayon books and Joy Larkcom's Grow your own Vegetables At least, i think that's the title - I've just been to check and I can't find it. It's about growing organically. Is that your bag, or do you not really mind about that sort of thing?

Good luck anyway.
