I want to make a grassed area of my allotment for my little girl to play in. What's the best time to sow grass seed? I have ordered some that didn't come with any sowing instructions.

Now is good but do bear in mind that it's unlikely to be mature enough for playing on this year and you might have to water during the summer or wait until autumn to avoid the watering bit.Alternatively get some cheap turf and she will have an instant play area!
