Has anyone ever answered a question"yes" when with hindsight it should have been"no"?
A lovely lottie neighbour told me she was visiting her daughter for a week and could i possibly look after her plants,I said of course visualising a couple of tomatoes and a courgette.TWO BOOTFULS ...and we both have hatchbacks later..we managed to shoe horn them into our greenhouse.It was only yesterday I said to the other half how good it was to be clearing the greenhouse as we hardened off our plants.Do other forum members "babysit" plants?Having just looked after another friends greenhouse during changable weather I'm going to have to be careful how i answer these questions as it makes for a stressful time allround.

Dear macmac, i don't babysit any at home but, at the moment i,m looking after ducks for one person and a greenhouse full of plants for someone else. Oh and i am growing Sunflowers and Red Cabbage for another person.

I just love it.

Alas OH i don't have your confidence.It's not the work involved it's the responsabilty,i'm terrified i kill anything!

Dear macmac, that sounds the ideal solution for you not to have to say no next time.

I don't think I could actually refuse, we've got some smashing friends and we don't go on holiday.We have a philosophy if somebody does you a favour if you can't do them one back pass the favour on to someone else.so although we never need anyone to sit our plants our lottie mates have helped build our shed etc.I've said it before on this forum allotment people are some of the nicest people you could wish to meet

And if you can't do someone a good turn, don't do them a bad one.

I feel I must give credit to our neighbour here. He looks after the plants in the greenhouse, feeds the fish, gives fresh water to the snake (I think he gets a bit of a scary thrill doing that, though the snake is very laid back. Horizontal in fact ) and this summer will be looking after the chickens too.

He takes it all in his stride and is happy to help because he likes looking after things. Cheers and thank you Basil.
