Planting out broad beans

I sowed broad beans indoors, now a foot high and very bushy and healthy, but with this current bitter cold snap would it damage them to plant them out now?

My view would be to hang fire for a bit - Metcheck (www.metcheck.com) is predicting some more icy weather over the next week and it would be a fantastic shock to the plants to move from indoors to outdoors in those conditions, even if you fleeced them.

If you need to pick the tops out to stop them getting too leggy, they make very nice greens if you lightly steam them.

Start to harden them off in the day now, pop them outside but bring them back inside at night. Do this for a couple of weeks and they will then be fine to transplant out.

Also if you have a cold frame they can stay out side at night after the first week unless it is forecast to be very cold.
