Hello

This year I decided to sow my onion seed in modules. Germination was good, so I have an average of three seedlings per module, which is what I was hoping for.
I plan to plant them out still in their clumps of three, but don't really know how soon I can do this. They are not very big yet - only 2 - 3 inches high. I would rather have waited until they were a bit bigger, but am afraid that time is running out.
Can anyone advise me?

I think they will be fine planted out now with a bit of hardening off if they are in heat. If they are 3 per module I'd give them 8-9" between clumps.

Ok, thanks for the advice

Caz, I always grow our onions from seed, sowing 6 - 8 seeds into each module because I want lots of smaller onions. I sowed them at the beginning of February and I planted them out about four weeks ago, under fleece. Yesterday I took the fleece off (mainly because I wanted to use it over the celeriac!) and they have grown well and seem to be quite large enough to be in the open. If it really gets very cold again, I could cover them up with a cloche over night, if necessary, but I don't think that will be needed.
