We haven't used our barbeque for two years due to the poor summers. It's such a performance cleaning it, getting your hands filthy with charcoal and waiting for it to heat up sufficiently that by the time it's ready for use, the sun has disappeared. On the rare occasions when it's warm enough to eat al fresco, we use one of those little one burner portable camping gas burners with a cast iron griddle pan on it and cook our meat on that. Not only does it the meat not get burnt to death, it doesn't taste smokey either. Our village butcher sells such good meat that it seems a wicked waste to cremate it.

I thought it was time I apologised.
I think it might have been me who inadvertantly caused the summers to turn poor
Do you remember exactly when the good weather ended, two years ago? It was towards the end of May, if I remember rightly. To be more precise, it changed within 24 hours of my buying a barbecue and a garden sprinkler
I am pretty certain that if I hadn't finally decided buy these two things, we would still be enjoying wonderful summers!
Sorry folks

Caz
You're not entirely to blame. Me and a few others started the rot a bit earlier
on this thread in April 2007

Dear Caz, what a relief that was, as this topic started off about naked gardeners, i thought you were going to say something else in your reply about making it rain.

Dear Alan and OH
What a relief - I've carried all that guilt for two years, when it might not have been my fault at all
Having now looked back at that old thread (from before I came across this forum), I have very amusing pictures in my head of all of you, up and down the country, out there doing your rain dances, in various states of undress - not sure now which is worse, those images or my previous guilt
