Kaffir limes are a bit more tender than lemon trees, but very similar in their requirements.
Good draining citrus compost, don't let them stand in water, and let them nearly dry out before watering again. Water with rain water rather than tap water and add some citrus feed to the water every couple of weeks.
They can't stand frost and need to be kept above 44 F in winter. In summer they like a bit of humidity in the atmosphere as they drop their leaves if they get too hot and dry.
Also check their leaves for greenfly and whitefly as they are attracted to the tender new leaves. Also keep a look out for scale insects on the stems and squash any you find, as most citrus are prone to attack by these.
Good luck. They are worth the effort, the leaves are delicious in Thai dishes aren't they.

Hi
As you are familiar with them I would like to know if
I bought one. It was in a charity stall with no label
and the ladies didn't know what it was but it was
healthy and about 3 ft tall and it looked like Kaffir to
me.
It has the double leaf and has quite a lot of spikes -
is this the baby?? If not what else could it be - definate
citrus but has never flowered but still healthy & happy.
Thanks Westi
