Did the rounds of the local garden centres this morning and was unpleasantly surprised at by how much the cost of a bag of compost has gone up.I thought that it was a bit steep in the allotment shop;when I need a bag that is where I shall be buying it.

I did find bags of 75litres at£3.99 each or £10 for three in a shop called "WHAT",which sells everything and anything, but a brand which I"ve never seen before named "Marsh"s".The allotment shop has a brand called "Humax".Another brand which I"ve not seen before, but at least it is 75litres.

Snooky, our allotment shop also has Humax and I use it, nice stuff, especially at the price.
Do not put off thanking people when they have helped you, as they may not be there to thank later.

I bought my last lot from Wickes - they have a multibuy deal in store that isn't shown on the website, can't find my receipt but I think it was just under 5p/litre. When I was looking for Growmore prices I tried to find an allotment buying group in the Lancaster area but failed. I don't think we have any Lancaster members (though there are still a lot that don't show location) so perhaps there aren't enough keen people.

Wickes, here in Eastbourne, currently have 4X70 litre bags for £10.
Geoff, I can't answer your question to Tigger, but you may like to know that Keighley has a thriving Allotment Society with a shop which is open every Sunday from 10 to 12 o'clock with very resonable prices. If Keighley isn't too far for you (or anybody else who might be interested), PM me and I can give you details.
