Hi can anyone tell me if its possible to cover my spuds with grass cuttings as i seem to remember hearing this can be done ? As ive banked them up around about 6-7 inches and now when i try to add more soil it just tumbles back down . PS,, When do you stop banking them up ? Many thanks for any replies received

I generally aim for a one foot difference between crest and hollow.
You use a dutch hoe and drag up from the hollow, but this does mean you need to allow enough width for the bank to support itself.
Grass cuttings, well you don't earth up with them as they a/. rot away and b/. do not keep light out.
What you do is sprinkle a layer along the top of the mound and on top of the emerging leaves as frost protection. Free bio-degradable fleece.

Do not put off thanking people when they have helped you, as they may not be there to thank later.
