Three whole days!!!!!!!

We have spent three whole days working on our plot and it has been wonderful.

My OH has been working like a trojan digging three new beds 21 feet long by 5 feet wide. They are beautiful filled at the base with 20 year old pig manure topped off with the top soil dug from the beds plus the channels we have dug to put drainage in throughout the plot. My OH thinks that I have got enough beds to feed the district with veggies. I think I have only just enough for us. I had a seed buying problem last year in as much as everytime I went shopping I was buying seeds and seeds and seeds!!! Now I am planting them. My OH thinks I have a problem. MMMmmm. We have had very little rain for the last four weeks so our beds have dried out very well. I have a horrible feeling that this year is going to be like last year and with a very dry start we are going to end up with a very wet summer.

Oops I have only just seen Bits and Bobs no 10 and I could have put this posting on there sorry.

Well done you.

Now when doing all that drainage, where did you dig the 5000 gallon sump with bicycle powered pump and irrigation system?

Dear Catherine, lets hope you reap the rewards of all the hard work you are both putting in.

And it's going to be a fantastic Summer this year. :)

Dear Peter That's my OH's next job   Seriously though we have two half plots on a slope and the bottom plot we have been unable to use because of the flooding problem so we have had to spend quite a bit of money setting up a drainage system to sort the problem out, but have had no rain since to test it. Though it looks like that is going to change later this week.

Thank you OH I hope we do have a good summer.

Well....I am green with envy Catherine, but I am curious is the manure of a twenty year old pig better than the manure of a younger member of the species?

Ahh Compo you have found me out  this was a very special pig. It probably died about 19 years ago. I am hoping that is is well rotted now. I am just glad that we had it though it is probably past its sell by date. At least it filled our beds.
