what does it mean by "these have a shorter haulm than other early potatoes so plant closer together 10 inches" will I not have to dig so deep for them

Dear Mandylew, sorry to disappoint you, but it just means the top growth is not as tall.
So you will still have to dig deep.

It also means that you can grow them under cloches for the earliest potatoes, which is what I do.
