I left a few leeks in to go to seed for an experiment last year and forgot about them. In November noticed that the tops had bent over and touched the ground and instead of seeds had turned into lots of baby leeks. I have heard of people who grow for shows using these if they get a really good show strain, so the little plants are clones of the parent.
Anyway, I carefully dug them up and planted them in pots and left them outside in the cold frame (without a lid). They've made lovely strong little plants and I've planted them out in rows today. They are about 10 inches tall and nice and sturdy, so I've got about 30 new leeks free and for very little trouble.
The variety is Jaune de Poitou.

These are what are know as Leek 'Pips'.
You should get some very good leeks from them.
