Is it just me, or has the world gone mad?
Can you guess what the following warning relates to?

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

Have you got it yet? It's an electric kettle. I'm not sure if I dare use it now!
How long will it be before we have to employ a registered expert to operate such dangerous household appliances for us?

Having worked in an industry where we had the doubtful honor of being in the top three for fatality's, I was for elf & safety when it came in, unfortuantly the larger firms set up
elf & safety departments,s who had to keep churning out bumf otherwise the would not have a job, the best thing to do now is to shut down all such departments ,as we have enough rules to cover us until doomsday.

And how do you know if you've got reduced mental capabilities unless someone tells you?

We'd better be careful with the kettle then.

They have pretty much got themselves covered there - except they forgot to mention keeping it out of reach of similarly 'challenged' people. Come to thing of it, that includes me   ; the last (and only) time I injured myself with a kettle was reaching across it for something out of a cupboard, forgetting just how hot steam is! That was a couple of years ago and the scar's only just gone :!:
