Good morning Donedigging, are we trying to guess who the fictional hero is, or who the forum member is, or even both?

And why the mad, angry face

Has anyone seen any new born lambs yet, in somes ways i hope not, with the weather we are meant to be getting.

Plenty of lambs in the lowland fields round here. The mountain lambs will not be seen till April - there is a good premium for late lambs which make for good eating when the spring-born are becoming rather tough by the end of the year.

Loads of lambs in Cornwall - been around for some time on the farms. Those on Bodmin moor won't be arriving yet.

First Lambs appeared the last week of November 2008. There are now many new lambs hereabouts.
At present I have just over 500 "guest" Sheep with me until they have grazed unwanted grass off. When they have finished, my work begins to produce top quality "Green Hay" and I am hoping that this will be my last year doing so.

Thanks for the replies, i find it most interesting how early in the year, or in Johnboys case (November) late in the year , that lambs seem to be emerging.
I remember we always thought it early if we had any about at the end of February at one time

I love seeing the lambs in the fields, jumping around with each other. Its nice to walk out and just sit quietly and watch them.

AnneThomas has answered for our area (SE Cornwall). Lambs have been around since at least early December on the farms that are not on the moors.

I have noticed the price of lamb (sourced locally through farm outlets) has just started to come down.

Is everyone prepared for the cold spell in for the next few days??

What was the answer to the fictional hero thing that started this thread? Is it another crossword challenge??

Haven't seen any lambs, but found half a chook in the garden yesterday
Don't know how it got there as the nearest ones are at least half a mile away and I don't think my cat's adventurous enough to travel that far. Would a fox have brought it all the way up the hill?

No lambs here yet and there won't be any for a bit. When they do appear, we always get a grandstand view of their antics because our allotment is bordered on two sides by a farmer's field, full of pregnant ewes at the moment. And the noise they make is terrific, particularly when mum and lamb(s) lose each other!
