Fox wee (sorry!)

I have an urban fox that seems to be marking my back garden and driveway as his 'manor' . Do any of the propriety deterrants actually work - renardine etc. Has anyone had any success with these? Any advice would be greatfully received. The reek is becoming unbearable. I shall douse with jeyes fluid I think at the weekend, well the driveway anyway.

Hi RP,
I can assure you that lead is a very great deterrent. Far better than Jeyes Fluid. But I suppose being in an urban situation Lead is out of the question.
I know what you mean by the smell which is pretty awful.
JB.

Hi JB,
Lead as in discharged from a rifle?I did suggest this as an answer to "aebd"s question about protecting his hens."Urban Fox" stated that this was no good because once a fox left a territory for whatever reason then another fox is liable to take over. But, I"m with you,JB, lead may be the only answer but probably not possible due to the urban location.

Hi RP

Perhaps it's time to revive this old thread.

Since I started marking my own territory I have never seen another fox. Or then again our local farmers may have given them the lead treatment

ha ha! i did think of asking BF to mark the garden and driveway for me, but there would still be wee where I don't want it, albeit less fragrant!

It is a real bother, the neighbours waste downpipe is freshly marked each morning, I notice as I take my bicycle through the garden gate. It also pongs down by the garage and greenhouse too. :(

JB, I don't think the neighbours would take too kindly to me letting off a shotgun in the middle of the night, or the airport police for that matter, as I am within 2 miles of Heathrow. I wish it was that easy!

Besides the "golden liquid", as mentioned in the earlier thread, Renardine DOES work and, I believe, so does human hair if you can get enough of it, say, from a hairdresser.

thanks Monika!

I have scrubbed with Jeyes fluid, so the smell has gone for now. BF is happy to supply some deterrent in a bottle(!) but it has snowed about 8-10" overnight, very unusual for us, it has been about 15 years or so as far as I can remember! So I will have to wait for it all to thaw before I put some down!

Not really the preferred calibre, but I have seen them off from an upstairs window with .22 rimfire with a moderator. The neighbours have no idea, make sure it's a head shot & bye bye reynard. Best to bait him for a while so he gets used to coming.
