My fellow Zootopians over in Oz are in the middle of a heatwave. I've just been talking to one and it's around 2am and the outside temp is 34..........she's even had to put her make up in the fridge cos it was melting. They can't use ice cos the moment it's out the freezer it's back to water again.

Anyway, this is why she can't get to work today

I hope our lot don't see that, or as soon as the sun comes out they'll have another excuse why the trains are delayed.

It is really bad over in the Sydney, Melbourne and Adalaide areas, the countryside even worse cos the crops are just withering in minutes, and they're having to bring in the livestock too cos of the heat. The ones who can get time off work are all heading down to Van Diemans Land (Tasmania) where it's a lot cooler. Even my pals who live on the coast can't stand it cos there's hardly any breeze, and you can't really go out in it........it's too hot

Dear Lizzie, it's a job to put ones self in that situation when the weather here is as it is.
But it does sound quite unbearable for them.

Now i know why i love living in the British Isles so much.

Most of my Oz friends have air con but it's not working too well cos of the sheer temperatures. They've got this for around another week........then lets hope the fires don't start anywhere

Good morning peeps.....OH, I too love living in England (slip there as I know you said the British Isles).

There are many arguments people can come up with for or against.
I have lived a few places over the years (Iran, Israel, Portugal, Germany, France, Malta, Greece, Scotland and WALES (drawing Alan in )) and I have grown to love England more each time I have come back.

I really should get out and see more of the British Isles though, I know there are so many great places to visit.

I feel for those in Oz suffering the heat wave.

Every time I used to return to UK it was the greenness of it all that made me so very proud of it.
I too travelled quite extensively in my younger years. I was in the Armed Forces for 25 years before I took up horticulture and agriculture full time.

hi Garden_Serf. My husband and i do just that. We got married last May and for our honeymoon we had a few days up in Berwick and Durham. It was great just exploring the countryside. Popped to Lindisfarne and many of the local villages also found a local allotment site so dragged my hubby round it to see what people were growing!

It's the most relaxed holiday i think i've ever had and the freedom it gives you is imense, you start to see things in the UK which you didn't even know existed. We're heading down to Cornwall for a few days this year to explore that part of the world.

Britain's Laura Robson remains on track for her second junior Grand Slam title after beating Noppawan Lertcheewakarn to reach the Australian Open final. The match - a repeat of the 2008 Wimbledon final which Robson also won - was delayed by two hours to allow the temperature to drop from a peak of 44C. I think that's a frightening 111 in old money, when did that last happen at Wimbledon!

Well they're all welcome to come over here and cool off. We've been without central heating for three days after the boiler packed up!
