How about everybody doing some profile maintenance?
It's always interesting and useful to know where people are when they ask questions, like "how do I stop my polytunnel blowing away?" is a bit different at Cape Wrath than Beautiful Bedfordshire.
It's also nice to be nosey and see some of the other fields filed in like age and hobbies.

I'll second that Geoff. I've long been thinking of posting the same suggestion, but not sure how to word it. As you rightly say, advice can differ widely depending on the part of the British Isles/world concerned.
If people don't want to let us nosey ones know too much, fair play. But I reckon knowing at least roughly where someone is is essential.

Hi Alan and Geoff

Done mine - I like to do as I am told!

I agree its more interesting if you at least know where people are and hadn't realised I had omitted that information from my profile. That's how I found out that garden serf lives quite close to me.

Bren, there is a User Control Panel link on the top left of your Forum screen. If you click on that and then look down the list on the left to user profile, you will be able to enter your profile info in there.
Pooters eh!!! :)

Updated my profile, Geoff. I never even knew about the User Control Panel - one learns something new every day!

You have to add your own friends and foes!

I think it's more for forums who may have dozens (or hundreds) of users online at any one time so you can see who you love/hate and if they are online when you are. I shouldn't worry about it too much, although I have put some names in mine

I wouldn't worry while both are empty - it arrived with the last upgrade.
I put a search in Google and found the phpBB (the forum software) site and all it says in the support section is:

5.3.4. Friends and Foes
TODO: (Not sure if this deserves its own section yet. For 3.0 this does not have much of an influence on the overall forum experience, this might change with 3.2, so leaving it here for now.) Write a detailed explanation about what Friends and Foes are and how they affect the forum like hiding posts of foes, adding users to the friends list for fast access / online checks, and so forth.

So not much help there.

On the green stripe at the top under Kitchen Garden click User Control Panel, this gives you a menu where you can select Profile. Then you can fill in whichever fields you feel like, e.g. Location, Occupation, Interests, Birthday - then Submit them.
