I had a great Christmas, in fact ,the best one for some years!

I had Mr. Alan Titchmarsh's book " The Kitchen Gardener",
And Geoff Hamilton's DvD collection, and "Vegetable Growing month by month"

What GREAT presents

We are not opening our presents till Sunday when all the family come round. My OH bought me a new set of pans which is something I have wanted for ages. I am really pleased with them. I bought him a new pair of walking trousers by Paramo, I have had a pair for a few years and love them now he has a pair as well. No more pulling on over trousers when it starts to rain and getting mud on the insides. Today we have had a brilliant walk in the Dales and I am about to make a roast lamb dinner with all the trimmings and a bottle of bubbly. Tomorrow we will have been together 21 years so we are celebrating that too. I hope everyone else has had a good day.

I"m sat here full of plumptiousness -and beer! after a "call-out" night when I wasn"t called out. I had a new shaving brush and am now playing on my pootle which is now connected to a wireless router instead of a cable.Thankfully my I.T.son is visiting so he set it up for me.

The best present of all is that my wife,Pam,is to go into hospital next week to have the operation on her back for which Pam has been waiting for the past four years.If successful,and it will be,it will make one heck of a difference to her life.

We adults in the family don't give each other presents any more at Christmas, but my beloved and I bought a few books each over the last two or three month and squirrelled them away until this morning. So we have been reading all day! I have already finished a fascinating account of the building of the Leeds and Manchester Railway around 1840 ("The Eleven Towns Railway" by Jeffrey Wells). I think, all our our nine grandchildren enjoyed their presents because we spoke to them on the phone and will see some of them on Saturday.

Well my soft squashy present turned out to be a pair of waterproof trousers, apparently i will now be able to continue to work in the heaviest of rain.

I must say i have really had the best of days, and pleased to read others have had the same, that alone has made me cheery.

Glad to hear others are enjoying the day as well!

OH, did you give Old Codger a present? and if so did he like it?

Good morning donedigging, even if it is later than normal for me, that'll teach me to stay up late making merry, but it is only once a year.

The presence of my company over the allotment, more than makes up for the lack of material gifts exchanged.

I can't wait for the boxing day festivities to begin, now who's presence shall i grace today.

Dear Alan, so glad to see that the over indulgence of Christmas day has had no impact on your humour.

.....and on my way back from a trip to work yesterday I collected 4 bags of best horse doings....a little gift for the compost heap at Christmas

Some people seem to have all the luck Clive, but i cant think of anyone that deserves it more than yourself.

....and today we have been given blue sky and sunshine...just the job for some at home digging...and coffee time down the shed..

Dear Clive, thats what i'm on today, digging that is, not sitting in the shed with my feet up.

Glad to see you keep a good open spit in front of you when your'e digging.
Times you see people just digging without and using three times the energy to do the same job.
Keep your tools clean and your mind on what your'e doing, then digging can be the most enjoyable of jobs.

Interesting to see you using a tee handled spade.

Dear Chantal, that seems to make you rather old fashioned, or have very exspensive taste and buy new craftsman made tools.

I might let you try my Y handled tools one day so you know the difference, thats if you would like to of course..
