that those you who set up the organic standards on meat on the behalf of the government are now asking the government for a holiday from the standard regarding organic feeding regulations. They are asking to be allowed to feed conventional feedstuffs to organic animals. This is because the costs of organic feedstuffs have risen and are spiralling out of control.
Does this mean that organic animals are to be fed GM Soya Protein and GM Maize products? If this is the case it seems a total farce!
Why should the government relent on those, who through sheer dogma, set the standard. What this really means is that because of their dogmatic stand against anything GM it is they who have caused their costs to spiral out of control.
I sincerely hope the government refuse to relent and that those who set the standard are left to stew in the juices of their dogmatism.

I agree with you on that one JB

I really wonder where all this present madness is going to lead us.
A few months ago the government announced big rises in car tax aimed at large vehicles like Land Rovers and Jaguars among others. The aim was to discourage people from buying these unnecessarily large CO2 generating vehicles.
Things seemed to have worked judging by the large numbers of unsold Jags and L Rovers at the factory gates. So what does the government propose, in its infinite wisdom, - well - throwing millions of pounds of our money at a foreign company to build more of these vehicles which presumably they still won't be able to sell!
