Mouldy Garlic

For the first time ever. I bought garlic from a garden centre rather than a supermarket.
Of those I planted, not one showed any sign of growing.
Went to the cupboard to try again and was met by a gloopy mess, checked my plantings and the same.
Anyone else had problems like this ?

Morning WestHamRon, mine are fine, but i'm not sure what would be the cause of yours rotting.
I think i would take the remaining ones back to the garden center, as garlic should store for ages.

You say they were in a cupboard - they may have been too warm and wet.
Garlic is very hardy and can stand snow and ice outside. In fact I've just found some that I had put on the wall to save and they have roots and shoots sprouting and look none the worse for sitting on the wall in this weeks snow and frost.
They may have been badly stored before you bought them, so like OH says I would take them back and get your money back and buy some from another supplier. There's plenty of time to grow some more.
