We had heavy snow early this morning and it has just started to snow again now. Our road has been blocked first by snow and then by cars all trying to get through to the motorway. I have been out for a walk early this morning and it was absolutely beautiful. I know people have to go to work and I am sorry for saying that but it is beautiful. I cant get to work this morning cause the road to it is comletely blocked.

So I am off out to go for a short walk and try again later. I did take some pictures but dont know how to put them on the forum. If someone can explain I will put them on later.

Dear Catherine, you sound as bad as me, i still love all the things i loved as a child.
And if that makes me childish, so be it.
Hope you had a lovely walk, it always looks totaly different when there has been snow, and no i don't just mean it's all white.

Dear OH I have been out twice this morning, before it was light and then later when it started to snow again. I love it, and it is the right kind of snow all crisp and crunchy. Mmmm lovely.

I promised to go and help a friend with a job at her house this morning, she said her road was clear so I set off and had an awful drive to get there. The an hour ago it came on really heavily so I gave in and came home. It is still snowing but the roads close to our house are clear. But if it freezes it will be a disaster.
Thank you Alan, I have a funny feeling I have asked this before and you answered then but I could not find it. I will try and do it tonight.

You are lucky to get snow, it rained here on top of ice and then everything froze, so the roads and paths are like skating rinks. One road is closed because of crashes and there have been several more since, with ambulance sirens going all morning. It isn't safe to go outside. Talking of which I had better try and slide up to give the hens their tea.

It's a lovely thick white world here in the Yorkshire Dales, too. Having been brought up in snowy climes (and not being a driver), I have always loved snow. This afternoon I walked all round the village to deliver things just to crunch about in the deep snow. Very perverse, I know, particularly at my age! This morning, as my husband was gingerly driving down a steep road with packed snow, I said "What a gorgeous tobogganing run!" My beloved was not amused.
Sunshine for tomorrow and more snow to come on Thursday, they say.

After all my excitement on Tuesday, our road and a large part of our village are still pretty much cut off from any traffic because of the snow. It snowed heavily this morning, on top of already about 8 inches of frozen snow, so now the roads are even more hazardous. Most schools were closed around here today because, although the children could walk there, the teachers who live much further away, couldn't get there!
I did another long round on foot this morning but it was hard going because of the uneven ground underneath the new snow. Although it seems to be more sleet than snow now, more snow is forecast for tomorrow.

Dear Monika, just let us know if you need rescuing.

That's so typically kind of you, OH, but I think tomorrow I might walk into Skipton (which I do regularly anyway) and carry things back in a rucksack. My beloved is suffering at the moment from a heavy cold/flu (?), but all his bones ache and he has been shivering and sweating alternately and sleeping most of the time. And I have a horrid feeling I am coming down with the same thing.
If we are laid up, we have some kind family living nearby who will do some shopping for us!

Hi Monika I do hope you don't come down with the flu. Try getting some Echinacea Drops from the chemist when you can. Take 15 drops twice a day and it will fight any infections you get. I have been taking it for a few days as I started with a sore throat and it works wonders. Fingers crossed nothing will happen.

If you take Echinacea tablets,it's usual to take 10 days on, then 10 days off.

Thank your, Catherine. I already started taking echinacea drops about 4 days ago when my husband came down with the 'lurgy'. It hasn't stopped me from getting it but I think I have a much milder version of it! So it's probably worked after all.
Today has been better for both us, thank you.

Dear Monika, i hope you are both back to full health in a very short time.
I hate being ill, it seems such a waste of valuable time.

Hi Monika I was pretty sure that you would know about the drops but I just thought I would mention it. Did you manage to walk to Skipton today. The weather has been pretty miserable today. But the snow is very slow in going. Our roads were taken over by Lancashire County Council for gritting and they have been appalling so there are loads of complaints in the paper today about how bad the roads were here.

Dont know what the roads were like around you
