COMPUTERS AND ALL THAT.....

Hi Compo here

Back after brief holiday and a birthday, I am now 21 with 29 years experience!!! Anyhow down to business, a pc question here, ahs anyone bought an external hard drive recently for their pc or laptop? If so advice on price / brand / supplier would be appreciated. Hope all are well, looks like it reading through the forums.

I have just bought one from Aldi 250 gb and £49-99 :D

Got mine from ALDI a couple of years ago works perfect so far it is a MEDION 3 GB

all i can say is anything bought last week is probably half the size and speed of whats available this week :D either buy from a shed like aldi or pc world (or ebay, amazon) and trust you can get it working yourself , should be plug into usb port and it works as any other removable memory, or get one from a local retailer who will give some aftersales advice if needed.

Someone I know has just bought one of these and is very happy with it..........don't know about all the jargon but he says it's the dogs wotsits :twisted:

My wife got one from PCworld, 250 gb for about £50. She's pleased with it. Important tip, though: don't just drag and drop - that puts the document in one place but for some reason I don't understand the operating programs are stored on a different part of the hard drive. Get program called Acronis True Image 11 Home, from e-buyer or some such site and it will enable you to back up properly.

Well I am no pc nerd nor am I a novice so I am going for a MAXTOR 500gb which has a programme to back up your existing system every time you switch it on and plug it into your pc
