Our brand new community garden is having a harvest festival/open house Event Oct 25th. They want us to make our plots look "nice"... well, i'm pretty sure my crops will be Done by then... i want to make a mini scarecrow (from son #2's outgrown sleeper and a store-bought mini pumpkin) not sure what i'll stuff it with (straw is rarer than gold, in these parts)... any other decorative and/or educational ideas? ...i moan about my tiny plot only being 9 by ten feet, but last week i chatted with a woman whose plot (in a different garden) is only 5 by 5!... y'all have it so good. (ps: hubby wants to build my raised beds that day, but i think this is a terrible stalling technique, as i want the beds finished before then so my plot is neat and tidy and boo-tiful) ...besides, if he's building stuff i'll have to watch both ankle biters at the same time. no fun!

(anyone else disappointed that when you click "view more emoticons" you only get two new ones?)

Dear Alia, hope all goes well for your harvest festival/open house.

How about making flowerpot men by stringing different sized pots together.

You could also make some wooden plant labels and pop them in at the end of the rows and just bluff your way through that something is planted.

Maybe you could also do a plan of what you will be growing next year and also what you have harvested this year, and maybe you could give the K.G forum folk a mention.

As for there only being two more emoticons on the other page, i was actually quite excited when i finally discovered them, but i am at an impressionable age, and i have still yet to use them.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Hi Alia,
To give you an idea what a flowerpot man looks like go to search and put wellie in and you will see that her avatar is a flowerpot man.

in case you were interested in an update: three moms stuffed baby sleepsuits with plastic bags to make very cute (and rather creepy) scarecrows for the garden yesterday. (the kids ran off and dug in the dirt. we tried to coax them over, gave up, and made the 'crows ourselves. much fun was had by all.) :D

I haven't see her on here for some time now.
