When wll they lay?

Is there any way of telling when my chooks will lay? had them three weeks so they are now 19 and 21wks old.They are black rocks.
Just want some inside info as we havehad a family bet on when they wil lay.

They should be coming into lay quite soon now. There is no way of telling exactly when though but one indication is that their combs become larger and redder when its laying time. There are changes in the pelvic area too but this is not easy to spot for most of us.
Don't worry if they are late coming into lay because a few extra weeks of maturity before laying will stand them in good stead. They will be bigger, stronger birds and eventually become better layers than their precocious sisters.

No eggs yet. Chooks are loving wandering around the garden with my Lab Murphy though.
