I noticed in the latest KG magazine that it says to take off the larger fruits on the fig trees and just leave the pea sized ones.

It is worth leaving them on if your tree is in a cold greenhouse or conservatory as I've harvested ripe figs on 29th December, and very good they were too.

It doesn't work every year, but is a treat when it does.

That's a great tip. Many thanks. I have a young fig plant with two small (just over an inch probably) figs and was thinking of removing them in line with the advice I had read recently. I think I removed a couple last year so was beginning to think that I would never actually get to eat any figs from the plant. Given what you have said, I will move the fig from the patio to the sunny lean-to and will hope that the figs grow a bit more and ripen for Christmas. Does that sound sensible?

Hi, Yes at least they will have a chance to ripen. Sometimes they drop off anyway, but its been such a rubbish summer lots of things have been slower than normal.
