Can any body out there help.

I have looked through all of my gardening books and havenot found an answer top my problem.

Quite a few of my onions have brown segments on the inside a bit like the dry brown bits you get around the outside of the onion. Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Thanks

I assume that you are talking about your harvested onions? It sounds as if the neck of the onion has not sealed off properly during the drying off process. How did you dry them?

Thanks for your reply.

I either dried them on the shelves of my greenhouse or laid them out in the polytunnel to dry

Hi there tracie. I had the same problem once years ago. It was when I grew from sets, never had the problem with seed sown ones. I know this doesn't really help, but if it persists, maybe grow from seed ? Cheers...freddy.

Thanks Freddy,

that is interesting, I have only ever grown from sets and I have had this problem in the past too. Maybe it has something to do with the heat treating process
