Do runner beans suffer from blight?, yesterday when picking beans I noticed some had brown spots on them also the leaves were affected, or is it the wet weather thats causing the brown marks.

Hello Bren
I'm not sure about blight but the leaves can get another fungus - rust. This may be what you have seen.

Hi Bren,

Not blight as in potato/tomato blight. Beans are affected by halo blight, probably helped by the wet weather. Have look at the pictures of halo blight on this search
http://aolsearch.aol.co.uk/aol/image?qu ... o%20blight
and followup some of the links.

I think the brown patches could be caused by the exceptionally strong winds.
My site is very exposed and I have patches on my beans.

Thanks Alan and Beryl, I have just come back from the allotment and brought some leaves and beans with me to compare with the ones that Alan gave a web site for, my leaves and beans are a bit like the 1st and 2nd pictures but not as bad as that.Beryl it could be the wind as on the sheltered side there are no brown marks, thank you both.
