Spacing tomatoes in a greenhouse

This is a follow-on to what JB said about spacing potatoes in the 'Winter Veg' thread

I have a 12x8 greenhouse. I put a single line of tomatoes and cucumbers all round the outside and a double row of peppers and aubergines in the middle, effectively creating a path all round the middle block. I realise this is wasting space but I'm reluctant to have a single path down the middle as I thought the air should get to the tomatoes in particular.

What do other people do?

i have a similar layout in a 14 x30 polytunnel, beds down both sides, two paths and tomatoes down the middle. with a bit of "staging" at the far end. 28 or 30 toms in total in two rows about 22 foot long.
