Am I the only individual to feel depressed at the continual grey skies we seem to have endured this summer? I don't mind it being cold as long as the sun is shining, but continual grey skies really seem to depress my spirits. Goodness knows how they cope in Siberia with their long dark winters. Perhaps that is why vodka came to be invented!

You're not alone Granny. I said on here yesterday that I was suffering from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) because of the lack of sunshine. I've felt so low since Saturday that I'm struggling to function properly.

However, the sun is supposed to shine again from tomorrow and has just broken through the clouds for a moment so hopefully things will improve.

I do so agree. This afternoon we got a glimpse of about three minutes' sunshine and my mood lifted visibly. I really don't mind rain if it's interspersed with summer sunshine, but it's this continuous "no weather" (no sun, no rain, no wind, no nothing ...) which is so depressing. It's our village show next Saturday, so we are all hoping for some decent weather during the week to keep the roses going and the sweet peas flowering. The veggies, we think, will be ok.

I always feel a bit depressed when it is so grey and miserable. I always feel totally different when the sun shines.

Still crappy and cloudy

its been so grey here that a glimpse of blue sky is unusual, have just arranged baby sitter for the kids and booked easyjet for the wife and i to go and annoy her brother for a week near malaga in mid september. he keeps trying to persuade us to move out there, but weve thought it important to keep the kids (11 & 13)in english schoools, but im beginning to wonder if our system is just a joke, how can a levels be taken seriously when there is a 90 something grade a pass rate, and they all seem to be taking easy meaningless subjects , it seems the aim of the exam system is to boost the schools figures in a league table. what is the point of a system that turns out herds of "qualified " students who have none of the skills either for life or relevant to an employer.
having put one through uni, i do wonder if the others wouldnt be just as well off leaving school earlier and starting work learning relevant skills on the job , they can allways get further relevant paper qualifications later on by distance learning.

anyway ive finished my coffee , the cloud is white this morning guess i should get moving

The cloud yesterday started with grey, then white and then finally the sun came through although it was hazy until the evening when it cleared.

This morning there is blue sky and sunshine so I'm off to the plot before the thunder storms

I feel SO much better!!!!

had a hot sunny afternoon yesterday , best evening for months, set the alarm to go to the boot sale this morning. nothing like a fine saturday evening to draw the sellers and buyers on a sunday morning... woke up to torrential rain....
missus has just anounced the spud bucket is empty , guess who is volunteered to nip out and dig a few for lunch....

August started with rain here and it's raining today to round off a wet, grey month. Reminds me so much of my childhood in Blackpool when it rained all the time in August

Dear OH, the rain was with me before you posted your message!

I got to the plot at just before 8am in the sunshine. By 8:15 it was foggy.
At around 10:30 the fog cleared to let it rain!

It still hasn't stopped

I'm now chopping up beans for the freezer and watching Poirot on the TV
