I hope not! It's a bit early, isn't it? They used to arrive around Christmas, then that slowly crept forward to about mid-October, but August? Nay, that's like getting your first Christmas card in summer!

What exactly do you mean by "the best range"?

Cheapest
Best quality
Most varieties
Most new lines

I no longer buy from any of the companies you mention. All my seeds come from OTHER(S) - of which there are rather a large number - i.e the companies that have what I want.

It is noticeable that Kitchen Garden gives T & M a lot of promotion in general articles and lists of seed companies. Is this because they are a major advertiser, or do they have some other influence on the publishing or production of this mag.?

I find the seed I've had from the Real Seed Company some of the most generous in quantity and with excellent vigorous germination, and they are open pollinated so you can save your own seeds and not buy any ever again if you want to be really economical. Not that I can resist trying something new every year!

Marshalls also have very good quality and excellent varieties, good service too.

Kings seeds are a lot cheaper if you buy them through the allotment society.

But I've not received any 2009 ones yet.

I have yet to receive any seed catalogues but I only buy from commercial seed houses generally and these will be out in about three weeks time according to Moles Seeds whose stand I visited at the Four Oaks Show on Wednesday. Four Oaks is the largest horticultural show for commercial growers and I have visited this show every year since 1971 and if you want a problem solved there is the perfect place to get the answers.
I generally deal with Moles, Kings, Tuckers and CN Seeds and for small items I buy from the local garage that sells D T Browns.
As for things getting earlier I noticed yesterday that Morrisons are now displaying Christmas Advent Calendars and the likes 3.5 months before the event!
Where will it all end?
JB.
