Dear Alan, it doesn't give me any joy telling you this, but it has been a most pleasant day here.
I even took afternoon tea on my terrace.
Alan have you ever thought about getting a job winding a Church clock.

Same here OH. We worked in the garden all day, after a dire weather forecast. Even the butterflies played ball, saw two commas, two small tortoiseshell, one meadowbrown and four or five large white, which is better than of late.

It's been a lovely day here today up until about 8.30 this evening when some light rain started.

Likewise here in Hearty Hertfordshire, even dry enough to recline on the grass path at the allotment today.

Morning my dear friend Alan, this might make you smile a little, it is now chucking it down with rain and i am likely to get soaked just going to wind the Church clock.

Dear OH
I thought it might, but I didn't like to mention it last night and spoil your Saturday

Dear Alan, the winding of the clock seems to have had the desired affect, we are now basking in the most glorious sunshine.

Its a nice sunny day here in Yorkshire too. Lots of butterflies about on the Buddleia (is that how you spell it it looks strange?) I've seen commas, large whites, peacock, small copper, speckled wood, small tortoishell, red admiral, gate keeper and meadow brown today. Isn't it amazing how they suddenly appear with a bit of sunshine.
I suppose we'd better make the most of it, if it's been bad weather in North Wales it is usually coming this way.

Dear OH
Glad the clock-winding trick worked for you. We don't go in for clocks round here - they'd only go rusty

We used to have sundials on churches, but then we found they rarely worked either
A bit of fine sunshine here this afternoon - just enough to pick some courgettes and wild blackberries.
Just got soaked feeding the hens - what the forecasters are pleased to call "the next band of rain". And a wet week forecast. Ah but at least we live here and are not huddling in tents and caravans like the visitors.

Dear Alan, looking at the weather you are going to get, i think it might pay to get some shares in an umbrella company.
The rain really seems to be quite relentless for you.

OH
Thanks for the kind advice. Actually I'm putting all my money into boats
I remember past years (not 2007) when I spent a great part of October trying to figure out where I'd stored my wellies. No problem now - they're on my feet most of the time.
