if i lime a bed ready to put cabbages and cauli in how long do i have to wait before planting

i have a peat soil so its very acid i dig a hole add some lime and then plant the brassicas .i might be wrong but my neighbour is gardening the same soil for years and his soil had club root disease,he calls it finger and toe disease.this is how he grows brassicas he just adds lime to the planting hole. but do not add lime and fertilizer at the same time as one will cancel out the other.leave at least 2-4 weeks between adding lime and fertilizer.i hope this helps. i am only learning my self so my way mightn't be the right way
