Help. Have had baby brother round [he is 52] asking can you purchase a seedless grape vine. I haven't a clue, Is it possible, if so what varieties would you recommend.

I've got several but it depends on what sort of 'taste' you're looking for. If you go to this site http://vinenursery.netfirms.com/ you'll find the national collection. The nursery is on the Herefordshire border and is well worth a visit on their once a year open event.

Sadly, they've sold up so let's hope the new people are as enthusiastic.

They do a list of vines and their 'virtues'. You order and they post out at the right time of the year. Excellent quality at very good prices.

If you're thinking of communicating with them by e-mail - don't! It takes ages. Much quicker to ring them.

We've had 6 indoor eaters and 100 outside vines for wine and only had a problem with one plant.

I bought a seedless grape last year, variety - Flame. It hasn't had any fruit yet, but I've taken two cuttings from it that have grown very well, so should have three good plants next year. My other grapes have seeds but are very tasty and make lovely wine. I've got Pink Chasselas indoors and Madeleine Angevine outside on a pergola.
