First Broad Beans....... ever!

I can now see why anyone that grows their own,
knows that theirs are better than shop bought ones....
Enjoyed my first harvest the other day and WOW!! have never tasted anythng like it.
Can't wait till the rest are ready

Next year, DD, try picking the immature pods when about 4 inches long. They are the best tasting beans. Then, of course, you are also encouraging your plants to produce more flowers and more beans.

Dear Donedigging, i do love a bit plate full of broad beans, but there again i do like a big plate of anything.

Dear donedigging, you will have to set your broad beans aquadulce claudia November and you will have some as early as OH next year.Don't let him beat you, i have got 4 lovely rows full of beans.

DD, after a while you will find yourself eating them straight off the plant while working!
I look for small broad bean pods to steam whole, from my first peas I select a few as 'mange tout' to eat raw or to take back and steam or stir fry. The problem is that you must not take too many - no matter how tempting - !
