Aubergines in greenhouse getting eaten

Slugs seem to be everywhere this year.

This is my first year with a mini greenhouse (6ft x 2ft) and I can't work out what is eating my plants. Last weekend I took everything out and only found 2 slugs lurking inside.

But this week something is really tucking into my aubergine plants - I am really annoyed as they have flowers already and are doing the best out of everything, but something is making big holes in the leaves and I'm worried they'll all get eaten :(

They are both at the top shelf of my greenhouse, although I leave the door open for ventaliton... any ideas?

I wonder if it is snails? I've found two in my mini plastic greenhouse recently, both stuck to the outside of my aubergine pots where they had done some damage to the leaves. Usually they creep away after a heavy meal to some dark place so that is possibly why you couldn't find anything.

Would you believe I found 1 tiny snail hiding in the corner of my greenhouse yesterday. I wonder if just the one could be the culprit?

I have removed him, and put down some organic slug pellets on the floor (as it's all gravel) so am hoping this will rescue the plants for a short while!

It could well be the culprit. It's surprising how much damage one little snail can do. You have only to come and look at my lacey hostas !!

Slugs and snails seem to love aubergine plants. We only managed to keep one of our young plants due the others being devastated.

They seem to have left our hostas alone though. A combination of copper tape and having plant pot far enough away from other plants so that the little devils can't abseil across. Also many of the pots are in trays which are often filled with water so they would have to learn to swim too.
