Not the sad losers - I am a Mancunian - at least Terry has another qualification to be England captain, he can blame the pitch for missing a penalty.
To the real topic.
Nobody seems to have mentioned Chelsea yet, I wonder why?
What do you think of green gardens decorated with horse troughs? I think the joy of gardening is the daily change and something suddenly coming into flower you hadn't noticed was even in bud. These gardens don't have that. I grow everything from rock plants to trees so am interested in any sort of gardening but perhaps most of you are focused on the edible. According to my paper yesterday's BBC coverage was supposed to be focused on "the growing your own trend". It was up to their usual standard on the subject I thought!
I haven't watched all the formal coverage, there aren't that many hours in the day, but I have watched the Carol Klein / Chris Beardshaw red button programmes and they have been excellent - plant people rather than design coverage. I think most of the designs are like designer teapots - they just don't pour.

I think it's been excellent this year. I Sky+ them and watch at a later time, which suits me better.

We were in London for a couple of days this week - sadly not at Chelsea - but as we were finishing breakfast on Thursday morning, Chris Beardshaw was starting his. I wasn't allowed to disturb him - Lyndon restrained me! No-one else in the hotel appeared to recognise him. He's quite small 'in real life' and very skinny. Perfectly formed though and dressed for the occasion in a very flowery shirt.

Talking of Carol, I was really thrilled to get a signed copy of her veg book for my birthday last week, even if its a little basic for my needs. My brother saw her at a book signing in Stratford, and she's wished me a happy birthday in it! My brother now refers to her as my good friend... as they had a really lovely chat about gardening. I wouldn't mind seeing her as the new GW presenter; about time they had a woman!

I like Sarah and Carole on the gardening programmes. But on other gardening web sites Carole is slated which I think is really unfair as she really seems to know what she is talking about and is very enthusiastic, which I like. I also think it is time for a woman to front GW. I think Carole would be perfect.
