I've really enjoyed watching Chelsea on the TV this year as it does appear to be bigger and better than ever.

I've only got one question - what has the lovely Alan grown on the sides of his face? He looks like an elderly teddy boy. After Sunday's programme, I assumed he be back on Monday minus the sideburns, once Mrs T caught sight of him, but no!

More to the point Tigger, why is the one on his right (our left), bigger than the other one? Most disconcerting

I watched Alan and wondered whether the make-up artists had wandered onto the wrong set thinking he was a character in the Mikado! I was so irritated by it that it really stopped me concentrating on what was being said. Why does he tolerate these show presenters trying out these gimmicks. If I'd been in his shoes I would have given them a "Foxtrot Oscar".
But having said that, I watched the digital Red Button walkabout with Chris Beardshaw and really enjoyed the close-ups from the comfort of my sofa.

I went to Chelsea on Tuesday (no celebs, no body paint but smashing day out with daughter) and thoroughly enjoyed it. We went very early so we'd been there for a good 2 or 3 hours before it got crowded. Capn Carrot mentioned the NFU stand and it was magnificent - huge array of flowers, veg and fruit all grown in the UK.

I haven't seen any of the TV coverage so far but I might have a look tonight. Interesting how the emphasis is all on design these days when it used to be about new varieties, the search for the blue rose etc. But much more interest in veg than there used to be. And hiking around London on the way there I noticed pots of tomatoes and tiny veg plots on the increase in real life as well.

The BBC have done a great job on coverage. last night it was on BBC1 for half and hour and then switched to BBC2 right away for a longer slot. They had 'Chelsea interactive' on RED button and website coverage.

Kitchen Garden will have a big feature on Chelsea in the JULY issue which will have coverage.
(And on the KG parts and not stars!)

The other good thing about the coverage is that a lot of it has been live which means they don't spend the day blocking everywhere with kit whilst they record the programme. I think they have been told to be a bit less invasive!
