I used to grow Defender Courgettes - reliable, good cropper, etc. But last it was a big disappointment, partly no doubt because of the weather, but I noted that in trials it was described as possibly not being bred true. So this year I tried Partenon - or is it Parthenon? Anyway, the advantage of it being parthogenic variety - self-fertilising - encouraged me to try them as an early variety in pots in the greenhouse. Results have been excellent so far and even better has been the flavour.
I agree with you, Colin. For a couple of years now I've been growing 'Parthenon' and its been excellent, whatever the weather. Very early, always been reliable and good taste (as far as courgettes go). A couple of fruits also got me a first class in our veg. show last year so it must be good!
