Potting compost

I just wondered what compost mix people use for seed sowing. This year I have used JI number 1 mixed with a little vermiculite, but have not been too happy with it. It seems a bit heavy and cold, although most things seem to have germinated okay. Last week I planted out some French and runner beans which had been grown by "a professional" (some of you may remember the discussion about this!) I hate to say it, but I was really impressed with the compost he'd used.It was quite gritty, and the roots seperated really easily. Just wondered what the rest of you 'professionals' out there use. Any tips gratefully received.

Garden centre multi purpose, which ever is on offer (usually Vitax) and as Richard says, throw out the big bits.

I use Humax all-purpose compost, good consistency, nice feel to it and easy to wet. Produces results, too.
